This Project
What is it for?
We collect money for a house for children of prisoners in the vicinity of Beijing: Sun Village. Actually, the founder of this house already has been able to build a few houses of this kind, spread out over China. So the home is there, but still there are lots and lots of children who cannot be helped, simply because they have no place to live and no one to take care of them. Children of prisoners can not be adopted, nor can they find a place in a regular orphanage. Legally their parents are responsible for their upbringing, even when they are incarcerated.
Sun Village helps the children and their parents and continues to do so even a long time after the parents have been released. The Sun Village NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) is a reliable, well structured organization. It gains a lot af admiration in and outside China.
In spite of all this admiration the children of Sun Village, their director included, live in very modest conditions. Everybody has to contribute to the income of the house by working on the farm. For more extensive information see the page Sun Village.
How does our project work?
We call it a snowball project. It started with only one person and it keeps growing and growing untill finally lots and lots of people are involved.
The official start is a benefit art exhibition of Irene Ypenburg in Beijing. However, the project has started in February. This fund raising project will continue for a year.

When the fund raising year is over, there will be a festive benefit cultural festival in Nijmegen, the Netherlands: Dutch Artists for Chinese Children.
Artists of different disciplines will sell their work and singers, musicians, story tellers and others will perform throughout the day. If we get the chance we will conclude the day with a great dance party.
All income will of course be for SunVillage.
